School Leaver - Destinations

At LPS, we place a great deal of emphasis on the long-term success as an indication of the value of their time at our school. The aim is to continue to offer support and offer guidance wherever practically possible, maintain relationships and track ongoing progress (particularly important data to aid school development). In addition, we continue to have strong relationships with all secondary schools in our area, which is particularly important for transition and on occasions we will offer support to help maintain a pupil in their secondary school.

One of the LPS values is "Become", so the identification of the right setting is imperative in the future success for pupils. We do all we can to ensure pupils have high aspirations for themselves when moving on to their next school. Although this can be a daunting time, we do all we can to support pupils with a bespoke transition plan, supporting pupils to make relationships with new staff and anticipating any issues that might arise.

Whilst LPS is a specialist provision, many pupils do transfer back to a mainstream setting during their primary years. Alternatively, some pupils opt for a transition back to mainstream secondary school. Please see the table below which shares the percentage of pupils who have moved on to mainstream and specialist schools over recent years:
